Meet Our President

 Laura Morales is an information technology (IT) businesswoman that has more than 25 years of experience managing the digital transformation of various economic sectors with an expertise in data privacy and cybersecurity compliance and risk management. Mrs. Morales holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer science and technology and professional certifications in Cybersecurity (CCSA) and HIPAA Law (CHP/CHA). Her outstanding leadership skills enabled the establishment of the first Healthcare Clearinghouse in Puerto Rico (PR) that has served for over 20 years the ecosystem compliance with HIPAA EDI Transactions & Code Sets Rule. After serving for two decades as Data Privacy & Security Officer in the healthcare sector on 2018 she founded Smart Compliance SC 365® with the mission of providing compliance and risk management services and software solutions that empowers the adoption of cybersecurity frameworks aligned with NIST, HIPAA, CMMC, ISO, ISA, GDPR and other security standards. On 2022 as President of the HIMSS Puerto Rico Chapter, she founded the Health Informatics Alliance. Also, as cybersecurity advocate and educator she supports HIMSS PR, CMS PR/VI, AHPR, PRPCAN, PRHIMA, HIMSS, Med-Billers, ISACA, and other professional organizations. Moreover, Laura Morales is a member of the national cybersecurity committees; InfraGard, NIST NICE & FISSEA.
