Mrs. Morales holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer science and IT management, and professional certifications in Cybersecurity (CCSA), Healthcare Administration (CHA) and HIPAA Law (CHP).
Mrs. Laura Morales remarkable distinguish professional outcomes begin in the early 2000's when she led the healthcare sector organizations (insurance companies and providers) in the successful planning, development and deployment of technology solutions to serve as the first Healthcare Clearinghouse in Puerto Rico in compliance with HIPAA EDI Rules, which has been continuously serving up to today. Proving her comprehensive IT knowledge and Management skills to lead a successful digital business transformation ensuring Data Privacy & Security compliance.
Mrs. Laura Morales outstanding entrepreneur career started in 2006 as founder and president of Smart Health Inc.; a company centered in serving the healthcare sector digital transformation with the adoption of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and ensuring HIPAA compliance. In 2018 the company evolved to Smart Solutions & Services LLC., also known as Smart Compliance SC365®, with the vision to provide specialized innovative software solutions that empower the adoption of Data Privacy and Cybersecurity governance, and risk management frameworks aligned with NIST, ISO, HIPAA, and GDPR rules. The mission to safeguard the digital businesses transformation of businesses in any industry and governments of any country to succeed in a virtual world and global economy. On 2011, joining efforts with other entrepreneurs, she was one of the four founders of the HIMSS Puerto Rico Chapter. Laura serves as Board Member Treasurer (2011-2021) and as President (2021-2023) leading the foundation of the Puerto Rico Health IT Alliance integrating the ecosystem associations and supply chain to work together toward a common goal of improving healthcare services with the adoption of IT. Laura serves as Director of the HIMSS Cyber Risk Committee leading the integration of CISA and FBI Cyber Squad teams in the healthcare sector to provide trustful education to professionals and organizations.
Mrs., Laura Morales is a well-known Cybersecurity advocate, speaker, and educator working for professional organizations such as HIMSS PR, CMS PR/VI, AHPR, PRPCAN, PRHIMA, HIMSS, Med-Billers, ISACA, and other. In 2023, she was invited by the Representative Chamber of the Government to be part of the professional group of experts that served as advisors to establish the Cybersecurity Law of Puerto Rico. Moreover, Mrs. Morales is a member of Private Sector and USA Government national cybersecurity committees; InfraGard, NIST NICE & FISSEA.
